Presentación de SKIP
SKIP es una ONG que trabaja en un empobrecido distrito de Trujillo (Perú). Nuestro heterogéneo equipo está compuesto de profesores, trabajadores sociales, expertos en desarrollo económico y otros voluntarios. Facilitamos tasas escolares, uniformes y material escolar a más de 400 niños al año. Además, ofrecemos clases de apoyo sobre lo que aprenden en la escuela y les ayudamos con los deberes. También se proporciona ayuda a los padres para que mejoren su estabilidad económica y social.
La educación es la llave del futuro
A diferencia de los sistemas educativos occidentales, los de Perú no son gratuitos, y muchas familias no pueden costearlos. Para muchos padres sin estudios, la diferencia que puede marcar la educación en el futuro de sus hijos sigue sin cumplirse. Además, los problemas sociales, de la violencia doméstica a la drogodependencia, tienen una influencia directa en el éxito escolar de los niños.
La educación de calidad es un factor importante y sostenible del desarrollo
Esta es la razón por la que nos esforzamos en tratar estos problemas y ponemos la educación de calidad en primera línea. Los voluntarios nos ayudan a marcar una diferencia en las vidas de estos niños.

In Peru, they take mother’s day very seriously. The festivities can be seen throughout Trujillo well before Mother’s Day has actually arrived. SKIP organized our own Mother’s Day party, where we prepared games such as musical chairs, three legged racing and volleyball. We also brought in hairdressers so the SKIP mothers could go home with a brand new hairdo! Whilst this was taking place, we entertained the kids by playing with them in the playground and swimming pool. It’s rare that the children have an opportunity to swim, consequently many of the kids do not know how to. Our volunteers helped the children build up a little more confidence in the water by handing out floats and swimming alongside them. Amusingly, however, many children opted for sitting on the volunteer’s shoulders and being given a ride to the other side of the pool! We finished off the day with cake, crisps, Inca Cola (a bright yellow fizzy drink that resembles the taste of chewing gum, very popular in Peru) and music. Over all, it was an exceptionally fun day for all; we hope especially for the mums! |
