Your
job You will
regularly visit families who are either being considered for a sponsorship
or have already been admitted into our program. These are follow-up visits
meant to help monitor their progress. You will also take part in weekly
workshops at the "school for parents", holding discussions on various
topics related to life skills and parenthood. We already have local
volunteers and are always interested in expanding the team with foreign
professionals who have Spanish speaking skills.
Typical day Your day
beings at 9:00 am when you greet the kids and their mothers at our office.
A smile and a few warm words is sometimes all they need. Then, your
morning is dedicated to visiting families and noting any problem related
to school or behaviour. You may also meet with mothers who require a
consultation. It's important to be ready for the unpredictable. Keep in
mind that working on the field means there are no strict schedules.
Sometimes nobody is home, and you have to come back later. From 1:00 to
2:30 pm, you are free to join the other volunteers for a delicious
Peruvian meal. In the afternoon, there is more time to visit families. You
are usually back at our office at 5:30 pm, when it's time to hug and kiss
goodbye with the kids and their mothers.
