''When i first heard about the work Supporting Kids in Peru (SKIP) did from an old friend of mine whose son was completing the 3 peaks challenge to raise funds for them, i thought i would find out more. SKIP is a small charity registered with the UK Charity Commission since 2003 and adopts a holistic approach to providing disadvantaged Peruvian children with their right to an education, from which poverty would otherwise exclude them. They believe in a 'hand-up' rather than a 'hand-out' approach working with the population in order to inspire and teach the family as a unit to work towards the future, taking responsibility for its own development thereby reducing child labor and giving poor children the opportunity for a better, self-sufficient future. The success they achieve is down to the hard work of many volunteers and I believe they really make a difference and felt i would like to support their on-going work. '' |
